The Prevention Green Paper and NHS long term plan are rightly positioning prevention and early-intervention alongside commitments to tackle health inequalities at the heart of policy and practice. This is a real opportunity to improve our communities’ health, reduce pressure on acute services, reduce inequalities and contribute to the long-term sustainability of all of our public services. Effective partnerships will be critical, in particular local authorities have enormous potential to improve the public’s health in concert with the NHS and others.

The conference will focus on partnership, delivery, innovation and change across the West Midlands including examples of good and emerging practice. Key note speakers include John Middleton Immediate Past President FPH, Professor Mark Gamsu, and Karen Creavin from the Active Well-Being Society (add David L once confirmed) and there will be workshops on the ADPH priority areas population health management, mental wellbeing, inclusive growth, and air quality,
