UKPHR will explain the new retrospective portfolio assessment route to registration for public health specialists in the UK. Successful applicants under this route will add to the richness of talent within the multidisciplinary public health workforce.

The route has been designed with reference to a core principle of equivalence in competencies and process wherever possible to the general medical council’s assessment route, CESR (certificate of eligibility for specialist registration) and the 2015 public health specialty training curriculum.

UKPHR’s board opened the route on 01 September 2018. In 2019, UKPHR will stop receiving applications by the other retrospective portfolio assessment routes for specialists: recognition of specialist status (RSS) and defined specialist.

UKPHR has published information, advice and forms in relation to this route on its website: https://www.ukphr.org/specialist-registration-by-portfolio-assessment/
